Natasha Speaks:
Jump off the Back-to-School Train and get Ahead with AP Planner: Set yourself apart using AP Planner.
Now that September has arrived, the buzz of summer is officially over and the back-to-school trend is in full force. Companies of every shape and size are considering using the back-to-school theme for their marketing pitches. According to a recent article in USA TODAY, marketers are doing anything to jump aboard the 18 billion dollar back-to-school train.
Even if it is a stretch, marketers are tying in the new school year to their pitches since it is top of mind for so many, said George Whalin, president of Retail Management Consultants.
But what if there was a better way to get the attention of the media and consumers? What if there were other events to tie your pitch to – events that were newsworthy and set you apart from those headed down the back-to-school track? And, even more, what if you knew about these events in enough time to create a successful initiative around it?
"Granted, the back-to-school theme can be successful, but it could also be a reach that ends up a waste of money. AP Planner allows its users to plan ahead and tie their pitches to events that are not only newsworthy to the media, but differentiates themselves from their competitors and other companies using the new school year angle," said Jeff Tidyman, senior vice president of Business Intelligence for eNR Services, Inc. "It allows businesses to stay ahead of the game instead of trying to catch up."
For example, a skin care product company could focus their pitches around September as National Skin Care Awareness Month instead of "go back to school with healthy, glowing skin, etc."
"The possibilities for your PR initiatives or marketing campaigns are endless with AP Planner. It offers a look ahead to see what events are being recognized by The Associated Press, events to use for future business opportunities and what your competitors are involved in," Tidyman said.
